Dr. Lesley McDonough was appointed Principal of Chartiers Valley High School in December 2024. With a diverse and extensive career in education dating back to 2004, she has held a variety of impactful roles, including high school social studies teacher, social studies department chair, high school gifted coordinator, elementary assistant principal, high school assistant principal, and district Title IX Coordinator for the Woodland Hills School District.
Dr. McDonough earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership at Robert Morris University in 2006 and earned her Doctorate in Education Administration and Leadership in 2023 from Penn West California University.
As Principal of Chartiers Valley High School, Dr. McDonough is deeply committed to fostering an environment of positive change, nurturing strong relationships with students and families, supporting educators, and striving for academic excellence. Dr. McDonough is passionate about shaping the future of the school community and is honored to serve in this leadership role.
Mr. Timothy Joyce

Timothy Joyce joined the Chartiers Valley High School administrative team as an Assistant Principal in 2025. He comes to Chartiers Valley from McGuffey High School, where he served as an Assistant Principal. Before moving into administration, Mr. Joyce taught 11th-grade World History at Canon-McMillan High School and previously taught Advanced Placement and College in High School courses in history and social sciences at Washington High School since 2016.
Mr. Joyce earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Social Studies) and Bachelor of Arts in History from Duquesne University in 2011. He also completed his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with her Principal PK-12 Certification from Point Park University in 2021.
Mr. Joyce is honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at Chartiers Valley High School and is dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. He strives to support teachers in implementing effective instructional practices, encourage student leadership, and enhance collaboration among students, staff, and families. His goal is to help all students achieve success both in and beyond the classroom.

Kristi Schmitt joined the Chartiers Valley High School administrative team as an Assistant Principal in 2022. Mrs. Schmitt comes to the Chartiers Valley School District after working as a seventh grade English teacher at the Canon-McMillan School District since 2016.
Mrs. Schmitt received her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle-Level Education as well as her Instructional Technology Specialist Certification from Duquesne University in 2015. Mrs. Schmitt then received her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with her Principal PK-12 Certification from Point Park University in 2021.
Mrs. Schmitt is honored to be an Assistant Principal at Chartiers Valley High School and will work to support teaching and learning while aiming to advance the standards of excellence and student achievement that take place here at the Chartiers Valley School District.
